Tree Man

This is an oil painting I did for my final project for an oil painting class during my time at California State University Long Beach. I came up with the idea for this painting after I came back from my grandmother's funeral in Korea. My idea involved the concepts of life and death. The trees in the background are dying while the man in the foreground is also dying while turning into a tree and thus being reborn as something new. I wanted to convey that while death is present everyday, life is also present everyday as well.
